This monument is dedicated to Mary Celia Dempsey mother of William Harrison "Jack" Dempsey born June 24, 1895
He fought his way to become
world heavyweight champion on July 4, 1919
and became known as the legendary "Manassa Mauler"
Marker is on Main Street (State Highway 142) 0.1 miles east of 5th Street, on the right when traveling east.
