The H and O Cafe

In 1944, Hamp Lee and his wife Ola opened the H & O Cafe. Originally, Lee purchased the property from his brother, Tierce.

Following the purchase, Lee converted it from a dry goods store into his cafe. In 1947, Lee sold the building to the Grier family. The Griers began serving their famous southern style food. For more than sixty years, the Grier family thrived in the Pensacola community.

They served both local and national celebrities and their restaurant became a popular meeting place for many community leaders during Civil Rights era.
