The Friedman Home

Built 1835 by Alfred Battle; purchased 1875 by Bernard Friedman; willed to the city of Tuscaloosa 1965 by Hugo Friedman.

Traditionally a social and cultural center in Tuscaloosa, it was the residence of Virginia Tunstall Clay-Clopton, author of “Belle of the Fifties” and of the poet Robert Loveman.

Marker is on Greensboro Avenue, on the right when traveling south.
