This tavern on the Kentucky-Alabama Road was established by John D. Rodgers, veteran of the War of 1812 and of Jackson's Florida Campaign. He also operated Rodgers'Ferry .4 miles northeast, opposite the island which gave this town its name.

Marker is at the intersection of Tennessee Route 136 and Old Ferry Rd, on the right when traveling north on State Route 136.
