Riverside Cemetery
This cemetery contains the remains of local Confederate soldiers, including Robert W. Adams who served as a first lieutenant with the 5th Florida Infantry in the eastern theater including the Battle of Gettysburg, and later spent six months as a prisoner of war in a Union facility. After the war, Adams returned to White Springs where he became a prosperous merchant and community leader, and served in the Florida Senate.
The cemetery also includes the remains of Dr. Theophilus West, the assistant surgeon of the 8th Florida Infantry in the Army of Northern Virginia. Union casualties from the Battle of Marianna were also buried here, but their remains were relocated to the Barrancas National Cemetery at Pensacola after the war.
