Racine County Historical Museum

Erected in 1904 with a Carnegie grant and the efforts of dedicated local people, this Bedford stone structure was Racine’s first specifically designed library building. The architect was John Mauran of St. Louis and the builder was A.H. Harcus of Racine. In 1962, wishing to preserve this beautiful building, the Community made it home of the Racine County Historical Museum.

Marker is at the intersection of South Main Street and 7th Street, on the right when traveling north on South Main Street.
