Blair's Corps
Osterhaus' Division, Blair's Corps
Brig. Gen. Peter J. Osterhaus.
Nov. 24, 1863
1st Brigade, Brig. Gen. Charles R. Woods.
2nd Brigade, Col. James A. Williamson.
Early on the 24th the division took position on the left of Hooker's lines on and behind the hills west of Lookout Creek and in the vicinity of and below the railroad bridge. Preparations for crossing the creek were completed at 10 a.m. Woods' Brigade the first to advance moved with its left on the river road and was in action east of this point. As Williamson's regiments arrived from duties to which they had been assigned at the bridges they were sent in part to the assistance of General Geary on the extreme right under the palisades and in part to strengthen Woods' line. General Osterhaus' troops continued to act with the front lines until the withdrawal of the Confederates at 2 a.m. of the 25th.
Marker is on Caroline Street 0.1 miles north of Military Road, on the right when traveling north.
