Immigrants from Italy, Central Europe and other regions settled in Monongahela, PA. Through hard work, commitment to faith, family and each other, along with an innovative spirit, they built a thriving community of accomplishment in the Park Avenue neighborhood.
Along with a Four-Star General and U.S. Army Chief of Staff, a Hall0of-Fame NFL Quarterback and a National Book Award Winner, the neighborhood is birthplace to everyday heroes as well as persons who achieved national and international success in the areas of medicine, business, education, entertainment, law, sports, the military and entrepeneurship.
The story of Park Avenue neighborhood is told in a feature documentary by filmmaker and native, Laura M. Magone.
Marker is at the intersection of Main Street (Pennsylvania Route 88/837) and 1st Street, on the right when traveling north on Main Street.
