National Historic Landmark - Van Cortlandt Manor
National Historic Landmark - Van Cortlandt Manor
Van Cortlandt Manor was begun in the late 17th century and occupied full time by 1749.
The manor house is a vernacular house type found commonly in the American south, Louisiana Territory, and the West Indies.
The restored Ferry House is also 18th century in date; both buildings at Van Cortlandt Manor include an exceptionally important collection of original furnishings.
The early national period is the focus of interpretation and presentation.
