National Historic Landmark - Van Alen House

This house is significant as an example of an architectural type of Dutch Colonial building which prevailed in the northern counties of the Hudson Valley.

Original parts of the house were constructed in 1737 with the additions in 1750.

Characteristic features include a straight line gable, steep roof with end chimneys, and a plan of rooms aligned two or three in a row.
