Michael Moore Historic Home
This is the childhood home of Next Exit History co-creator, Dr. Patrick Moore. This residence, built in the late 60's, was a typical home of a Los Alamos National Laboratory Nuclear Physicist.
This home was do-it-yourself project of a local realtor who claimed to have designed the building. However, upon purchasing the home, the Moore's found a set of Better Homes and Gardens plans in the basement.
Dr. Moore's father, Dr. Michael Moore, raised 4 children in this home while earning an international reputation in Nuclear Cross Sections as well as simultaneously serving as a Worker Priest in the Episcopal Church.
In 2000, following the massive forest fire that destroyed much of the community, an invasion of bark beetles decimated the majority of pinion trees on the Pajarito Plateau including those on the property. After retiring from the laboratory, the senior Moore's sold the home in 2005. Subsequently, the new residents dramatically renovated the interior and exterior of the home.
