Mary Potter Academy
Founded by G.C. Shaw 1889 to educate African Americans. Named for a Presbyterian benefactor. Later a public school. Operated one block east.
Marker is at the intersection of College Street (U.S. 15) and East McClanahan Street, on the right when traveling north on College Street.
