July 10, 1804

William Clark recorded in his

journal that on this date:

“opposite. is a butifull bottom Plain of

about 2000 acres…Covered with

wild rye & Potatoes…intermix’d

with the grass, we camped…opposite

a yellow Clay Cliff.”

Marker is on Kansas Route 7 near Main Street, on the right when traveling north.
