and to honor

Governor John Sevier

and the patriotic pioneers who followed him in the War of the Revolution and assisted in establishing in the wilderness the foundations of law and liberty.

Erected 1918 through the efforts of the Samuel Doak Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution Morristown, Tennessee.

Marker is at the intersection of North Main Street (U.S. 321) and E Depot Street, on the left when traveling south on North Main Street.
