Edward Thomas Dunn-St. Michael's Cemetery

Edward Thomas Dunn(1840-1904) was born in Vermont to Irish immigrants. His wife, Mary Frances Connolly (1846-1895), was born in Quebec to Scottish immigrants.

They had two daughters before moving to Pensacola from Quebec around 1870. Between 1870 and 1885, Mary had four more children: Frank Mark, John J., Florence, and Webb.

Edward primarily worked as a stevedore loading and unloading ships, in Pensacola. Edward formed the J.P. Jones, Dunn, and Company in 1876 during a yellow fever epidemic. The company specialized in removing ballast and fumigating the ships putting into port in an attempt to stem the spread of yellow fever.

Mary died in 1895 from congestion of the brain at one of the Dunn houses located at 30 West Wright Street. Edward's grief was short lived - he married Ada Quigley nine months later.

Edward died in 1904. He is buried with his first wife, Mary, in the Dunn family mausoleum in St. Michael's Cemetery.
