Confederate Monument-Orlando
Dedicated in 1911 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy, this Georgia marble monument was erected in memory of the soldiers, sailors, and statesmen of the Confederacy. The ladies of the local UDC chapter amassed $2,500 for this memorial by sponsoring many strawberry and ice cream festivals.
Florida Attorney General Park Trammell, who later became governor, was the speaker for the dedication. Originally placed at the intersection of Central Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue, it was
moved to its present location in 1917 to resolve a traffic hazard issue.
