United States Navy
who served with honor and distinction in the Second Battalion, Twenty-Eighth Marines, Fifth Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force Pacific, during World War II. He and five Marines participated in raising the American Flag on Mount Suribachi on 23 February 1945.
Marker is on Timmerman Avenue near Elrod Avenue.
