A.K. Suter Elementary School
A.K. Suter Elementary School has provided the community of East Pensacola Heights and the city of Pensacola with outstanding academic standards for nearly ninety years. It is the oldest school in Escambia County to utilize its original facilities for educational instruction.
The school opened in 1921, under the name East Pensacola Heights School. Upon opening, the school included six classrooms and employed one principal and two teachers. By 1926, the community renamed the school in honor of the prominent educator Annie Kopmarc Suter, the name that it retains to the present.
To accommodate the rapidly increasing enrollment, the school constructed numerous classrooms, a lunchroom, a media center, and two complete wings connected to the existing structure between 1927 and 2003.
With a population that fluctuates from three hundred to three hundred thirty students, A.K. Suter Elementary School maintains a close relationship with the community and is enthusiastically supported by parents, volunteers, and local businesses in East Pensacola Heights.
