Emory Pass

Named in honor of Lt. W.H. Emory, who passed by here with the Army of the West in 1846. His report to the U.S. Government is the earliest scientific account of this region which then belonged to Mexico.

Rugged Pioneer Soldiers

Lest we forget those rugged pioneer

soldiers who tamed the west,

this memorial is erected

to perpetually remind us of their service.

Marker is on North Craycroft Road, on the right when traveling north.

The Schwertner House, 1880

Built by Delso Smith as an Army Officer reception center during the Indian wars. Bought by Mr. Schwertner in 1893 and donated to the local Historic Society in 1980.

It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
