During the forenoon of the 25th the Regiment marched with its Brigade and Division, to the assistance of Gen. Sherman at Tunnel Hill. The Division returned in time to take part in the storming of Missionary Ridge.
The 9th reached the summit at this point, and moving immediately to the front and left was engaged until the close of the battle at dark.
The next day the regiment joined in the pursuit, continuing to Ringgold.
Casualties: Killed, 2 Men; Wounded, 12 Men; Total 14.
Marker is on North Crest Road south of Cabin Road, on the left when traveling north.
