At about 4.30 p.m. April 6, 1862, this regiment was engaged here, repelling a cavalry charge. It moved to left rear 400 yards where it was engaged for a few minutes and then retired to left of 14th Iowa camp.
Marker can be reached from Cavalry Road 0.3 miles west of Hamburg-Savannah Road, on the left when traveling west.
